Dads and Doulas

Ideally the Doula and Dad make the perfect support team for the labouring woman, complementing each other's strengths.  With a Doula present the Father can enjoy the experience more because the Doula can...

*Assist and guide him in ways to participate at his own comfort level.
*Enable him to get a needed meal, break or nap during a long labour.
*Provide Mom beverages or ice/hot packs so he doesn't have to leave her side.
*Aid him in understanding what the Mom is feeling and what is happening.
